Payment of Benefit Claim

For withdrawing funds the following forms should be duly filled and submitted (Mandatory)

The original of the Birth Certificate and a photocopy (The Original will be returned)
Note : The photocopy should be certified as a true copy in the applicant’s own hand writing.

Eligibility to claim benefits

When leaving service on reaching age of retirement.

  • 1) Males - 55 years
  • 2) Females - 50 years

When leaving service on grounds of marriage in the following context
(For female Employees)

  • 1) If married within 3 months of leaving service
  • 2) Have left service within 5 years of marriage
A certified photocopy of the Marriage Certificate certified by the Registrar who registered the marriage or a marriage certificate issued by the Additional District Registrar should be submitted along with the above forms.

When leaving service on permanent disability

  • 1) A Certificate of Health “Form-307” should be obtained by a Medical Officer of a Government Hospital certifying the fact that the applicant can no longer work.
  • 2) "Form-M" along with the above forms should be submitted to the nearest Labour Office.

When migrating to another country on a permanent Visa

  • 1) The permanent Visa and a photocopy
  • 2) The Original of the passport and a photocopy along with the above forms should be submitted to the Head Office of the Labour Department

When leaving for employment in Government Service or Local Government Service

  • 1) The original of the Letter of Appointment (To the Government or Local Government Service)(The Original will be returned)
  • 2) A photocopy of the Letter of Appointment certified by the applicant should be submitted along with the above forms.

When leaving service on a corporation being closed down, peoplized, converted into a Company or on retrenchment

Eligibility :

  • 1) A business undertaking or corporation belonging to the Government converted into a public company.
  • 2) Employees retrenched from a State Corporation
  • 3) A Government Corporation or Government Business Undertaking closed down.
    - A letter should be obtained from the previous Employer stating the situation clearly.

Members who have taken Housing Loans should check the following when applying for benefits

  • 1) When the Loan is applied for but not taken
    - The original and the duplicate of the certificate of balance issued by the Central Bank (White and Pink of the EPF Loan “Form-2”) should be submitted along with the above forms.
  • 2) When the loan received has been settled
    - EPF housing Loan “Form-14” should be filled and certified by the bank and submitted along with the above forms.
  • 3) When there is an amount outstanding on the loan
    - EPF housing Loan “Form-14” should be filled in quadruplicate, certified by the lending institution concerned and the Assistant Commissioner of Labour of the area and forward to Labour office along with the above forms.
Note : If a current or savings account is opened in the bank concerned and these details are given in form K, delays can be minimized.

Payment of benefits

The refund will be made either by
  • Cheque
  • Directly credited to the member's bank account through SLIPS * *If the bank holding the account is registered in the “SLIPS”, the Sri Lanka Inter Bank Payment System

Part Payment

  • The member's account will be closed after payment and he will not receive statements on his account thereafter. If contributions are received after the refund, the member will have to apply for a part payment to claim these amounts.
  • Any unpaid balance after a refund of a member account can be claimed under the part payment of refund benefits. A member can apply for a part payment by submitting an application to the Central Bank EPF Department.
    - Printed applications for refunds can be obtained from the EPF Department free of charge or downloaded from the website.
